Pell Grant

All students are first considered for the Federal Pell Grant. The Federal Pell Grant Program provides need-based grants to low-income students. Federal Pell Grants usually are offered only to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor’s or a professional degree to aid them with the actual costs of attending college. A Federal Pell Grant, unlike a loan, does not have to be repaid. Amounts can change yearly. The amounts for 2022-2023 range from $650 to $6,495. The amount a student receives depends on the student’s expected family contribution (EFC); the student’s enrollment level; and whether the student attends for a full academic year or less. In certain situations, an eligible student can receive up to a 150% of his/her scheduled Pell Grant for an aid year. NCC credits the Federal Pell Grant funds to the student’s school account at least once per eligible semester. Students may not receive Federal Pell Grant funds from more than one school at a time. Students can receive the Federal Pell Grant for no more than 12 full-time semesters or the equivalent. Students will receive a notice if they are getting close to their limit.
