Department of Multicultural Engagement

The Department of Multicultural Engagement provides English language support and multicultural programming to help students achieve their academic, personal, and career goals. Services are available to both degree-seeking and non-degree students who have completed a department language assessment, individual language evaluation, or an approved standardized language test.

Students can access a variety of resources, including English language evaluations, academic advising, tutoring, mentoring, registration assistance, and referrals to additional campus support services. English language instruction is offered at multiple proficiency levels and focuses on developing skills in conversation, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, and writing for academic, professional, and everyday communication.

The department also offers opportunities to build language skills and cultural understanding outside the classroom through programs such as the International Café, Conversation Partners, and the Multicultural Club. These activities encourage meaningful connections among students from diverse backgrounds while promoting language practice and intercultural exchange.

In addition to English language instruction, the department provides non-credit world language courses, workforce-focused English programs, customized language training for business and industry, and professional development workshops that support effective teaching of multilingual learners.

Through its comprehensive services and inclusive learning environment, the Department of Multicultural Engagement helps students strengthen their English proficiency, engage with diverse cultures, and prepare for success in college, the workplace, and their communities.
