Pell Grant

All students are first considered for the Federal Pell Grant. The Federal Pell Grant Program provides need-based grants to low-income students and are offered only to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor’s or a professional degree. A Federal Pell Grant, unlike a loan, does not have to be repaid. The amounts can change yearly and the amount a student receives depends on the amount set by Congress for that year; student’s Student Aid Index (SAI); the student’s enrollment level; and whether the student attends for a full academic year or less. In certain situations, an eligible student can receive up to a 150% of his/her scheduled Pell Grant for an aid year. NCC credits the Federal Pell Grant funds to the student’s school account at least once per eligible semester. Students may not receive Federal Pell Grant funds from more than one school at a time. Students can receive the Federal Pell Grant for no more than 12 full-time semesters or the equivalent.
