FIN120N: Introduction to Financial Management

This course introduces the fundamentals of financial decision-making.  The coursework provides a solid foundation for calculating risks and returns and assessing financial information to optimize investments. Key concepts and applications include time value of money, risk-return tradeoff, retirement savings, mortgage financing, auto leasing, asset valuation, capital budgeting, financial forecasting, and other important financial concepts. The concepts are applied to a variety of real-world situations spanning both the personal and corporate decision-making processes.

FIN130N: Money and Banking

This course introduces students to the fundamental role of money, financial institutions, and the banking system within the U.S. and global economy. Students will explore how money is created, how interest rates are determined, and how financial markets operate. Emphasis is placed on the structure and function of the Federal Reserve System, monetary policy tools, and the impact of banking regulations on economic stability. By the end of the course, students will understand how financial institutions support economic growth, manage risk, and influence everyday financial decisions. 

FIN210N: Principles of Investments

This course provides an introduction to investment concepts, financial market operations, and portfolio-building strategies. Students will learn the fundamentals of stocks, bonds, mutual funds, ETFs, and alternative investments, as well as risk–return trade-offs and diversification principles. Using real or simulated financial data, students will complete a semester-long Investment Portfolio Project, in which they design, manage, and evaluate a diversified investment portfolio.

FIN220N: Corporate Finance

This course introduces the core principles of corporate finance used in organizational decision‑making. Students examine present value, bond and stock valuation, risk and return, and capital budgeting, while learning key tools for evaluating investments and financial performance. Additional topics include market efficiency, capital structure, payout policy, options, risk management, and mergers. Emphasis is placed on developing practical financial reasoning skills for effective managerial decision‑making.
